The Texas Flip Factory Flyers finished their second season by adding several trophies to the wall of the Humble gym.

“All of our teams were amazing. We are so impressed with the dedication of the athletes and how much all of the teams improved. The orange-clad group won a parent participation award from Cheer Power” said owner Kris Williams. All three teams boasted impressive wins at competitions throughout the state of Texas. The junior team, the Nighthawks, won first place at four of their seven competitions and the youth team placed in the top tier for all of their competitions.

“I really can’t say enough about our youngest squad, the Red Barons. They wow the crowd every time they take the mat,” Williams said. The Red Barons, ages 3 to 5, have already learned running tumbling passes and some impressive stunting skills.

“We’ve got a great group of young cheerleaders who improve everyday. Our coaches are able to work with them individually and the results are extremely impressive,” said Williams.

The Flip Factory Flyers are coached by former Humble High School and University of Houston cheerleader Geni Cox. As head coach, Cox oversees a staff of five coaches and all aspects of the cheer and tumbling program.

Shawn Sartain recently joined the TFF coaching staff. As a former Humble High School cheerleader, Sartain offers immeasurable experience in both tumbling and cheer.

His years as a member of UCA cheer camp staff and a national championship college squad have given Sartain a wide base of knowledge to pass along to athletes.

“We are so excited to have Shawn join the Texas Flip Factory coaching staff. His emphasis on technique will help propel our future Flip Factory teams to even greater heights,” Williams said.

Several cheerleaders competed in individual events at a recent national competition, with New Caney High School senior Tina Ford winning the National Champion title in “Best Cheer.”

Alyssa Williams was named National Champion in the “junior jump” category and Hailey Leahy in the youth division.

Alyssa and Hailey were also named National Champions in the junior partner tumbling division.

Tryouts for the 2009-2010 Texas Flip Factory competitive cheer season will be held April 3-4. Williams encourages all interested to visit the Web site for additional information, www.texasflipfactory.com.

“We have squads for all levels, from beginner to very experienced cheerleaders. Many of our older cheerleaders also cheer for their schools as well as on a competitive squad,” Williams said.
