BHS JROTC Brings Home More Trophies

Competing against 52 schools at the American Legion Nationals Drill Competition in Montgomery, Alabama, the Bainbridge High School competition drill teams captured two third place trophies.
ROTC Deputy Commander Derrick Akins led his Color Guard to a third place trophy and Cadet Darren Good’s Drill Team won a third place in drill. This was the fourteenth consecutive year of participation at the Montgomery Nationals.
Col. Breedlove commented, “Of course, National Competitions are always tough. It’s difficult to compete against schools who have drill teams larger than our cadet enrollment, but our cadets worked hard the two weeks before competition and that resulted in bringing home some trophies. Plus, they all got to meet the Director of all Air Force JROTC programs, Colonel Richard Ragaller.”
“I am pleased with our senior leaders. Also, Team Leaders Derrick Akins and Darren Good have been very consistent throughout the drill season. They have led their teams to trophies in all four competitions this school year. That’s great work. We compete at Valdosta State University on February 21th and then turn our attention the toughest of all high school drill competitions, ‘The Nationals’ at Daytona Beach, Florida in May,” Col. Breedlove stated.
