Tennis ATP World Tour Trophy
The Russian Nickolay Davydenko beat the Frechman Paul-Henri Mathieu, 6-4, 6-2, in the ATP World Tour Title in the final of the International German Open. In addition to earning 500 South African Airways 2009 ATP Ranking points, Davydenko received 228,000 Euros. Mathieu received 300 South African Airways 2009 ATP points as well as 104 Euros in prize money.
Davydenko has proved to do well on clay courts, even after a left heel injury. Mathieu also had been doing well, winning back-to-back matches three times in 2009. He said of his loss, “It’s been a great week for me,” commented Mathieu. “Of course, when you are in a final you always want to win but it has been a great week for me.”
