Trophies News from Huron, South Dakota
Three cheerleading teams: Watertown, Winner and New Underwood were chosen as the “Spirit of Six” Trophy Award winners at their respective tournaments on Saturday night.
The trophy is named in honor of the six Rapid City Cobbler cheerleaders who were killed in a plane crash returning from the 1968 state A tournament in Sioux Falls.
The South Dakota Peace Officer’s Association has presented trophies to the cheerleaders considered best on crowd control, dress, sportsmanship and enthusiasm at the state tournaments every year since the accident.
