New Commerative Trophy created for MotoGP
MotoGP’s ruling body, FIM, has announced the creation of a new trophy that will be awarded to this year’s world champions.
The trophy, created to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix, will be awarded to the world champion of each class in the final round of the season in Valencia. A decision was made to create the new trophy during the 2008 FIM Conference Meetings, which took place last week in Geneva.
The new award will bear the names of the first world champions in 1949.
The 125cc World Champion will thus receive the Nello Pagani Trophy the 250cc Champion the Bruno Ruffo Trophy, and the MotoGP Champion the Leslie Graham Trophy.
