Baseball Trophies for Kids

Monday, November 15th, 2010

Now that we’re approaching that World Series time of year, all of the organized baseball  leagues are starting to wrap up their seasons with various forms of tournaments.  As an aside, whoever thought that this year the Rangers and the Giants would battle it out in the Series?  i guess that’s why they play the game!

If you’re involved in baseball team sports, now’s the time you need to be thinking about awards.  Psychologists now insist that all participants in T-Ball and younger little leagues receive participation trophies or awards regardless of how  their team fared. This  article will take a look at some baseball trophies appropriate for the younger age groups
.
T-Ball

I really don’t know why they start kids in baseball this young.  I think the only value may be for the child to start developing some coordination skills.  After watching T-Ball through my own kids, I’m convinced that the parents get more out of it than the kids do!  That being said, there are several really neat baseball trophies and awards that are available through Crown Awards, a company that’s been in the Awards business for over 30 years.

Participation Trophies:  I really like the medals for this type of award.  Crown has just a ton of these, and they start at just $1.49.  When the kids are this young and can’t read, just having a baseball related medal on a ribbon hung around their neck at the team party is really exciting for them.

Top Finishing Team Trophies:  If the budget is tight, these very same medals can be bought with “first, second or third” place on them.  However, even at this age kids know the difference between just participating and winning the most games.  Of course, if you’re partial to medals, you can get larger, nicer medals for between $5 & $10.   However, there are other options as well.  Crown Awards has this really neat 9″ movable, posable baseball figures on a marble base at a promotion special cost of $3.95 with free engraving.  This is a super deal, and really would make any small child happy.

Little League

These baseball players are of the age where they’re really beginning to understand the game.  Trophies for winning really do mean something to these teams, not just for participating, but for excelling and being the best.  I’ve listed several options from which to choose, with budget being the overriding factor.

Medals:  Always an option, especially for 2nd and 3rd place finishers

Posable Baseball Figures:  As mentioned previously, these figures (both male and female) are sure to satisfy, and look great on display at home.

Spinners:  These baseball trophies are very popular with kids.  Crown has one with a baseball emblem that spins inside a wreath that is sure to please.  It also is mounted on a marble  base and comes with free engraving for about $5.

Crystalline Baseball Figures:  For $6., you can get a 7″ crystalline baseball player on an engravable base.  Crown Awards also offers a 5.5″ lucite star that any young player would be proud to receive.

There are many more possibilites to be had, some less expensive and some costing a whole lot more.  The variety of baseball trophies at Crown Awards is almost endless, from medals to cups, to plaques, to figurines and more.  The advantage in dealing with an experienced company Crown Awards is that there’s probably not a whole lot that they haven’t seen or been asked to help with over the past thirty years.  There’s no substitute for experiece, especially when it comes to making kids and their parents happy.

Giants Take the World Series Trophy

Thursday, November 4th, 2010

The San Fransisco Giants take the World series baseball trophy home to San Fran.

It was an overdue victory – the Giants last wore the crown in 1954, four years before they moved West. So much for a franchise that never quite got it done in October despite the likes of baseball giants Willie Mays, Barry Bonds and Juan Marichal. It’s November, and now new stars stand tall in San Francisco.

2010 World Series

Game 1: San Francisco 11, Texas 7

Game 2: San Francisco 9, Texas 0

Game 3: Texas 4, San Francisco 2

Game 4: San Francisco 4, Texas 0

Game 5: San Francisco 3, Texas 1, San Francisco wins series 4- 1

Acrylic Baseball Trophies and Awards

Monday, October 18th, 2010

Season ending awards and trophies are the norm for all leagues, be it T-ball for the tykes or Babe Ruth Leagues for the teens Choosing the right award to fit the age level but still stay within a budget can be a challenge for parents and league directors regardless of the age level. Acrylics and acrylic derivatives provide a valued cost effective means of recognition that will be appreciated by all recipients.

Acrylic Versatility

It also comes with a Free blue gift box, and makes a memorable gift for $17.95.

Dick Howser Trophy Goes to Third Baseman

Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Ask Anthony Rendon to list all of the trophies he has collected recently following his stellar sophomore season, and the Rice third baseman doesn’t know where to begin. Heck, he doesn’t even know where all of the hardware is.

“I just give them to my parents,” Rendon said.

In fairness, it’s been a dizzying few weeks as the accolades poured in — Conference USA Player of the Year for the second time, Most Outstanding Player of the NCAA Austin Regional, Baseball America’s Player of the Year, C-USA’s Male Athlete of the Year, and Mayor Annise Parker proclaiming Tuesday as “Anthony Rendon Day.”

“I was just expecting a little piece of paper or something,” he said. “I didn’t know what to say.”

Such a reaction is typical Rendon — reserved and understated. But he admitted Friday, when the Lamar High graduate accepted the prestigious Dick Howser Trophy in Lubbock, was different.

The Howser Baseball Trophy is awarded to college baseball’s top player and is voted on by the National College Baseball Writers Association. Rendon, who topped fellow finalists Miami catcher Yasmani Grandal and Mississippi pitcher Drew Pomeranz, joins an illustrious group of winners that includes Washington Nationals rookie pitcher Stephen Strasburg (2009), Tampa Bay Rays pitcher David Price (2007) and New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira (2000).

“This is probably the biggest one I could win,” he said Wednesday. “They’re all big, of course, but they consider this the Heisman Trophy of college baseball, and this would be the biggest achievement of my career — other than winning a national championship.”

He was a Howser semifinalist a year ago, when he had little idea of the award’s significance. But now, after extensive Internet research and another monster season in which he hit .394 with a league-best 26 home runs and 85 RBI?

“I figured it might be nice to win one of these,” he said.

And so he has, yet another first by an Owl.

It also provides a major boost into next week’s 2010 Collegiate National Team Trials in Cary, N.C.

Rendon is one of 39 players vying for a spot on the 22-man U.S. roster, which will compete in a five-game series against South Korea before a one-game friendly competition against a Japanese collegiate all-star team July?21 at Rosenblatt Stadium in Omaha, Neb.

After that, the U.S. treks to Taipei, Taiwan, for a four-game set against Chinese Taipei beginning July 25. The summer concludes with the World University Championships in Tokyo from July 30-Aug. 7.

Yankees Pay Tribute

Thursday, July 22nd, 2010

New York Yankees will pay tribute to “The Boss” and “The Voice of God” before Friday’s game.

The team will have a ceremony for longtime Yankees’ owner George Steinbrenner and legendary announcer Bob Sheppard before their game Friday night, the team announced.

Both men passed away within days of each other earlier this week, taking with them decades of Yankee lore.

The baseball team plans to have a video tribute to Steinbrenner and a moment of silence for Sheppard before its game against the Tampa Bay Rays, according to a statement on the Yankees website.

Steinbrenner, the larger-than-life Yankees owner, died at the age of 80 on Tuesday.

Under Steinbrenner’s guidance, the Yankees earned seven World Series baseball trophies since 1973. He was the longest-tenured owner in Major League Baseball, having served as principal owner since purchasing the club on January 3, 1973.

Steinbrenner was a pop culture figure, famously earning some attention in episodes of the TV sitcom “Seinfeld.”

He was known for keeping a firm control on major decisions concerning the team, a trait that garnered him the nickname “The Boss.”

Sheppard died Sunday at the age of 99.

Sheppard announced his first game at Yankee Stadium in 1951, and his last in 2007, according to a statement released by the Yankees. His career spanned 4,500 baseball games, including 121 playoff contests and 52 World Series games.

It was Yankee slugger Reggie Jackson that nicknamed Sheppard the “The Voice of God,” according to MLB.com.

The Bosses Hardware

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

The Yankees are paying tribute to owner George Steinbrenner on his 80th birthday Sunday by displaying all seven World Series baseball trophies the organization has won since The Boss purchased the franchise in 1973.

The Commissioners’ Trophies from 1977, ’78, ’96, ’98, ’99, 2000 and last year will be out on the 200-level concourse, just outside the Yankees Museum near the right field corner of the ballpark.

Final Vote Trophy for Victorino

Final Vote Trophy for Victorino

Shane Victorino displayed a great performance at the 2009 All Star Game; great enough to earn the Sprint Final Vote Trophy recognizing his work on the field as well as publicity campaigns. It was only in 2008 that he won the Golden Glove Award.

The 28 year old plays for the Philadelphia Philliees and so far has only made one error this season. It wasn’t with a little work did he earn a spot on the All-Star squad. He knocked on doors and appeared on national and local radio and TV.

After facing some injuries, Victorino is ready to get back out on the field and help out his team. He said, “I’m not that kind of person — I don’t want to be on the bench and watching, getting in to pinch-hit… I said I’d play Tuesday, so, it’s Tuesday.”

Hamels needs trophy case for his Series’ MVP award

Trophies From Crown AwardsTrophy News From Philadelphia, PA

The bottle in his hand was already half-empty, but Cole Hamels seemed a bottomless source of bubbly.

In the soggy celebration of Philadelphia’s World Series championship, Hamels stood before the plastic shield protecting his locker, giddily drenched in sparkling wine. The bottle bore the label of Domaine Ste. Michelle, a French-sounding brand imported all the way from Washington state, and the 24-year-old pitcher had been branded the Series’ Most Valuable Player.

“This will be a trivia question for the next couple hundred years,” Hamels said, happily. “And I get to be a part of it.”
